Got a 1998 GMC Sierra 1500. 5.7, 350, 4x4 with a crew cab. Three doors and the back seats fold down for large toolboxes or what have you. The Truck runs awesome, the engines got a tonne of push and pull, and the transmission doesn't slip or hesitate. Brakes will likely need replacing though. It's got power windows & powerlocks, but the power locks don't work, dunno why but I've never bothered to fix them. I've thrown in a new starter, new battery, and a new cb joint from the fella before me who likely hit a bump too fast up the mountain or some such I figure. There's pretty minimal rust on the truck, ~BUT~ the truck has ~body damage~. ( Sounds worse then it is ) The box is pretty beat up, with sizeable dents on either side. There used to be no tailgate until I nabbed one from the Auto wreckers. There's no dents on the doors or fenders, just a lot of scratches in the over coat. All this truck has been used for was to tow ATV's and Snowmobiles up and down mountains by the guy before me (Who was the first owner), hence it being beat up. But the actual dents on either side were supposedly from his neighbor backing into him, twice. It was never used as an actual 4X4 so everything important with the truck works fine! All I've used the truck for was to drive from West Sechelt to Gibsons for work, and it's only got 175,000 or so kilometers.I've changed the oil and filters every 6000k so it's been taken care of. So there's tonnes of life left in her. ( And for any who didn't clue in, it's got the towing package ) Small little problems. Drivers side mirror shattered. ( Some kid smashed it while parked at work. Only the glass needs to be replaced, the electronics still work ) The passenger door doesn't open from the inside... It's never bothered me, when I had to let my woman out? Felt like a gentleman, and friends can just dukes of hazard out anywho ;) OR if you're lazy! Just wind the electric window down and open from the otherside. Oh, the air conditioning/heating work fine, but the blower motors shot. You can grab one from an autowreckers for $30 or so. That's all the problems with the truck. Nothing Important, or hard to fix rather. The engine is super solid. Transmission is all there. 4x4 works easy. Powersteering is fine. Signals/Breaklights/highbeams/interior lights and all that jazz are fine. If you want a A to B work truck, maybe this isn't it, cause it will get you from A to B to C to blah blah blah. Or if you want a truck to just have around for hauling junk or towing, camping, or if you just wanna be hard on it and beat it up in the bush, it gunna be ideal.
